“It’s never too early or too late to work towards being the healthiest you”

Yes, Miracles happen

12kgs lost in 3.5 months & continuing.

I led an active & fit lifestyle in my school and college but my lifestyle became sedentary as I started my professional career. Because of unhealthy eating habits I put on around 14Kg weight and developed a paunch.

Post gaining weight I tried multiple conventional options for weight loss like going to gym, dieting but didn’t loose an inch. I used to do extensive workouts, used to play outdoor games but nothing worked for me.I struggled a lot for shredding those extra weight.

When you are overweight, it is not only your physical health which takes the beating, but even your mental health goes for a toss.When everyone was busy in cooking delicious meals during lockdown I thought it as good opportunity to loose some extra kgs. Earlier I used to go out for dinner every weekend with my friends, no such luxury was there in lockdown. With the help of a friend who is a nutritionist I started my weight loss journey. I learned the importance of nutrition and eating right. Apart from eating right, portion size also plays a very important role in weight loss.

I never thought just by eating right I will be able to loose 12 kg of weight.

Journey

Avoiding sugar and carbohydrates is pretty difficult when they are usually staples in your diet. When I started it was really difficult to overcome my cravings for sugar and junk food .But I knew I can’t afford to have them in the program and need to be more disciplined about what I eat and timing of day. As some has beautifully said “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment”.

When people were eating pizzas and pastas at their home during lockdown I was eating broccoli and zucchini in my salad. I tried to reduce carbs from my diet as they increase insulin level and later gets converted to body fat. I understood the science behind weight loss and took interest in learning more about nutrition. It’s not only about eating right but also in right portion & at the right time.

Apart from eating right I used to do regular workout from Cult.Fit. Cult gave a very good opportunity by starting the online classes on their platform. I used to do more of High Intensity workout ,Sports & Conditioning and cardio. This platform gives live rank during workout, when I started I used to get around 800 rank but as time progress, I was able to achieve single digit rank(8). Seeing this much difference in energy levels in my workout boosted my confidence.

Seeing the results on a scale was a great motivation to continue the program but sometimes it was very frustrating when I didn’t see the results on the scale but I will say “Stick to plan”, eventually you will see the difference.Decreased weight on the scale used to give me immense pleasure.

I had few major rules during the program

  1. No to sugar
  2. Keep it low carb
  3. High Protein
  4. Healthy fats
  5. Exercise 5–6 times a week
  6. Drinking more water
  7. Eating more veggies
  8. 7–8 hrs of sleep

Positive effects

Along with losing weight, I also gained good health & found many benefits like:

-> High Energy Levels throughout the day

-> Cravings for sweets has reduced

-> T-shirt size L to M

-> Waist size reduced from 32 to 30

-> No Gastric problem

-> No Indigestion

-> More confident about myself

Mindset Shift

I’ve shifted my ideas on why a new healthy lifestyle is essential. No longer am I on a quest only to lose weight for appearance’s sake, instead it is health, happiness and life’s longevity that keeps me moving forward.

All it takes is discipline and perseverance. It’s not important which diet you follow or what kind of exercise you do, as long as you do it & keep doing it until you’ve reached your goal. If I can do it anyone else can. And just remember “It took more than a day to put it on. It will take more than a day to take it off” so be patient.
